Inspiring Girl Scouts Through STEM
Overview
The Girl Scouts of North East Texas asked us to create an interactive and physical installation to support their preexisting geology trail. The augmented reality scavenger hunt experience needed to tell the story of the camp’s unique geological history, had to be girl lead, and had to encourage Girl Scout’s interest in STEM-related careers.
A Unique Educational Outdoor Experience
The experience encourages girls to see themselves as adventurers and explorers and shapes a vision of their future as STEM leaders and innovators. The Virtual Wild is proud to create augmented reality experiences with the Girl Scout team to enhance their mission to continually improve the camp for girls by adding new technology, interactive exhibits, and engaging hands-on activities. Check out our portfolio for our second project with GSNETX – the IF/THEN Ambassador STEM Experience!
Inspired Learning and Discovery Through AR Technology
The Geo Quest AR app lets girls look for digital fossils along the STEM Center for Excellence trail and then dig up 3D printed “real” fossils they learned about at the end of the trail. The experience design immerses young girls into a digital archeological scavenger hunt where learning is a subconscious byproduct of exploring and having fun.
